  • At the very first outset and before You get to hear "Introduce Yourself", start by saying --- "Hearty Thanks for this Opportunity to represent myself; Glad if you could Share your Association with the Organization precisely on the Roles/Responsibilities. Sailing in "SHIPS @ StartUps"

At the very first outset, I would say, One gets an Opportunity to sail in multiple SHIPS @ StartUps

Progressive OwnerSHIP
Experience would be better if one is a Part of Middle Management in StartUps. Even though you are neither a Co-Founder, nor an Investor in a StartUp, but will be a part of Leadership Team, which you may not get it in MNCs for the years of experience you have (Am referring to 10 – 12 years of experience). Leadership Team would be tightly knit and closely work!

In most cases, Middle Level Managers would have been granted Private Equity. MNC do offer RSU/ESOP; but you may not be a part of Leadership Team. Private Equity coupled with part of Leadership Team would certainly make anyone to get gratified and in turn leads to higher Enthusiasm/Efforts/Energy Levels leading to better contribution. You would start not only working; but will certainly do a Value Addition to grow the Valuation of the StartUp. If the work profile is driving You (and not the money), its the stepping stone for achieving great heights in the career. No doubt, Money will start chasing You; rather You chasing the Money!!!
Intra-PreneurSHIP
Quite a good amount of people would join a StartUp to experience “What does it really take to be an Entrepreneur ???” without being a Real Entrepreneur!!! All I meant to say that, the Work Floor is thrown open to various challenges in terms of running the Business/Enterprise. Everyone would have the opportunity to deal with the challenges on 3 Ps Processes/People/Products OR Services. One may not get these type of ground level challenges in MNCs as they have already set up the SOPs --> Standard Operating Procedures. Also if one is quite good in terms of Finance/Accounts, might as well have the challenge to be accountable in terms of PnL!!! There you Go!!!. To get to such heights in an MNC, it would take probably ones Life Time!!!

Having dealt with all the above, what else you need to become a Successful Gen Y Entrepreneur? You need a Brilliant Idea with Execution Excellence
Idea-PreneurSHIP
It’s very much Human to say – You will encourage what you like or You will like those who is treading your path!!! StartUps usually will be born out of a Brilliant Idea. So if you have a Brilliant Idea, that will be nourished with care to make it cherished! And pretty good chances are there to make it as a Extended Venture/Sister-Concern under the same StartUp.
Certainly, apart from these, there are other aspects that make a StartUp as an Attractive Employer!!!
Ending with a Note "Experience can never be Expressed nor Explained; the Only way is to just Experience it".
