Job Hunting Like A Boss!!

These days, Job Hunting has become an inevitable part in most people's career at various stages. Job seekers and Recruiters often use LinkedIn as one of the platforms for Job Hunt/Search. Often you would have seen in LinkedIn that some of the Job Seekers have the headline as "Actively looking out for New Opportunities". One should be cautious while putting such statement as it is visible to all the connected people in the network and if anyone in the network is from the same organisation, it will become evident, which may not be good.
How about Job Seeker indicating that he/she is "Actively looking out for New Opportunities" which should only be visible to Recruiters and not visible to your connected people in the network? Lovely isn't it? Yes Linked has the below privacy setting which allows the same.
Navigate to Your Profile --> Settings & Privacy --> Privacy --> Job seeking -->Let recruiters know you're open to opportunities, click it & turn it on to"Yes"
This will be on for a period of 90 days and it will get turned off automatically after 90 days. Again one can turn it on for another 90 days. After turned on, it also displays for how many days it has been turned on!
Clicking on "Update career interests" link, one can indicate the below:-
  • Note to Recruiters (for up to 300 characters)
  • What Job Titles are they considering?
  • Which Job Locations?
  • What type of jobs: Full-time or Part-time or Contract or Freelance etc
  • Which industries are preferred - Computer Software, Financial Services etc
  • Size (headcount) of the company
Once all these have been set, Job Seeker's Profile will be ready to appear in the search results of Recruiters (who are using LinkedIn's Recruiter Product Subscription) based on the matching career interests.
Also, the LinkedIn feed will start showing up Jobs matching the career interests.
Update the Current Company correctly in your profile so that LinkedIn doesn't show up (of course with a disclaimer) your Profile if any of your Current Company's Recruiters are searching and it matches your career interests!!!
All the Best in case You are Job Hunting! Feel free to Comment!

SUCCESS = SUC(ks) + CESS

Looks like most of the people are chasing Success and few of them are becoming Successful as accepted by World.
What is Success ? Success = Suc(ks) + Cess
Success really Sucks and one has to pay Cess (Tax) as well.
Success is just like an Iceberg, which is hidden and deeper beneath the Sea/Ocean, meaning the sacrifices made by any Successful Person is not seen so easily as the Glory of the Success takes all the limelight. Successful Person would have gone through many hardships and very few would be vocal about it. All these can be termed as Cess paid by the Successful Person.
We are sure that all these Successful Persons have paid Cess in one or the other form - Be it AK (Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapur), DK (Kapil Dev), JK (Juggilal Kamalapat), KK (Kareena Kapur), RK (Raj Kumar, Raj Kapur) SK (Salman Khan), SRK (Shiva Raj Kumar, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Shah Rukh Khan), VK (Virat Kohli).
Success is Subjective & everybody can become Successful in his/her own ways.
Being Happy in Life can be attributed to Success
Doing Higher Studies can be attributed to Success
Attaining peak in Profession can be attributed to Success
Holding a Patent can be attributed to Success
Staying Employed in the Current Job Market can be attributed to Success too
It is proven that All Human Beings whether Good or Bad, Masculine or Feminine want to Stay Happy. Being Successful makes a Person certainly Happy, All that matters is whether someone is Happy or Not. Not certainly whether the Person is Successful or Not.
No doubt, the World would like to follow the Successful Persons. If you think, Your Family is Your World and they Follow You, indeed You are Simply Successful and Nothing can Beat that.

GHOD - Oh My GOD, It Works✔

It is often observed that in our daily routines at Office, if we don't plan our work properly, it will be very difficult to make a day to day progress on the same. If we are working by employing an Agile Project Methodology, then even if one of the days become unproductive, it will impact the Sprint Commitments of the entire team. In my opinion, meetings are one of the prominent time & mood killers because of the below depicted reasons:-
  • Not all, but most of the meetings don't have a proper agenda & if there is, then agenda is not shared, which makes people not to be much resourceful in meetings.
  • Not all, but most of the meetings end up late exceeding the stipulated time.
  • If the meetings are wrongly scheduled, it will be an absolute time killer. Let's say 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM meeting is going to kill most of the people's time as they are going to reach office to start the day by attending the meeting and if the meeting turns out to be "beating", people step out of the meeting in a bad mood and sooner or later leave for leisure lunch break and come back by 2 PM, by which half of the day has gone already.
At the same time, important stake-holders of meeting need to prepare to actively participate in the meeting, which needs at least 15 minutes of preparation. Also it would take sometime for people to resume their work with the same pace after the meeting.
Eventually the point is meetings are going to disrupt the work schedule. Of course, without Meetings it is going to be difficult to work too. So in an attempt to solve this problem, proposing "GHOD - Golden Hours Of Day", which aims at accommodating meetings without the side effects of it.
Depending upon the consensus of the Team, GHOD defines a minimum of couple of hours both halves of the day wherein there will not be any meetings absolutely. Any meetings must be before or after GHOD. One of the examples of GHOD - 10 30 AM to 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM To 5:30 PM. Meetings can take place before GHOD or after GHOD or the intervals between GHOD. 5 Hours of GHOD/Day yields amazing results. Try it out to realize the benefits.
With GHOD being set, people become time conscious to start off but eventually become work conscious. Also daily tasks are getting accomplished easily because of more focus. Apart from that if there are no meetings/less number of meetings in a day, people can make use of that time in building professional networking in the organisation or for self development or for better work life balance.
GHOD acts as GOD, pretty much powerful and helpful.
